Types of Triangles
They are distinguished by the size of their sides and by the measure of their internal angles. It is important to mention that the triangle is a polygon with three sides, joined by its three vertices that make up three angles.
Types of triangles according to their sides
It is a three-sided polygon, depending on the size and the relationship of the sides to each other, there are different types of triangles:
- Isosceles Triangle – Shows two sides of equal length.
- Equilateral triangle : all three sides have the same measure, therefore all three angles are equal.
- Scalene triangle : its three sides have other measures.
Types of triangles according to their angles
A triangle has three interior angles that total 180º. According to the measure of the angles, the triangles are the following:
- Acute triangle : all three angles measure less than 90º, that is, they are acute angles.
- Right triangle : one of the angles of the triangle measures 90º, that is, it is a right angle.
- Obtuse triangle : one of the angles is an obtuse angle, therefore it is greater than 90º.
