What is 7UP?
In 1929, to introduce something different, Pepsi introduced 7UP to the market, which was a lime-based drink that used lemon as the main component and used different salts. Initially, it was not able to get much recognition, but slowly people developed some interest in this drink that became famous in the late 1940s. There was no main competitor to 7UP until the early 1960s and even when Sprite was introduced. Later in the decade, he was able to maintain his fame. What is Sprite?
It was introduced to its rival, 7UP, by Coca-Cola and initially seemed somewhat wrong as Sprite could not gain much popularity. Little by little he began to make his mark due to the various offers that were offered to customers. It was introduced in Germany and used sodium as the first salt that gave it a different flavor. Because the best marketing, I was able to take the initiative and today is the 6th th famous soft drink in the world, with a market share of 8%. It was already famous in the United States and Europe, but now it has also made a name for itself in the Asian market. Although its prices are higher compared to 7UP, people prefer it for various reasons.

Two adults and a nine-year-old child participated in our blind taste test. Here are the results:

Sprite – Sprite was said to have a much milder flavor compared to 7Up. One person said it goes down the throat much easier with less bite compared to the 7Up. Flavor testers agreed that Sprite had a mild lemon-lime flavor that was very well balanced. One person said that none of the flavors were predominant. One adult indicated that the Sprite tasted sweeter, however, if you look at the nutritional data (see below), the sugar content is identical for each soda.
7Up – Two of the three tasters indicated that 7Up had a strong lemon flavor, especially before swallowing the drink. The lemon flavor was said to be mild to non-existent. One reviewer (an adult) commented that this soda would make a good mixer for alcoholic drinks with its strong lemon flavor and taste more like tonic/carbonated water than Sprite.
Who won? Overall, two of the three tasters preferred Sprite to 7Up. However, one adult who selected Sprite as the winner said he would prefer 7Up to Sprite for mixed drinks.

Nutrition
You won’t find huge differences in nutrition between Sprite and 7Up. The notable difference is the 20 mg higher sodium in Sprite. We can assume that most people will not opt for 7Up over Sprite simply because of that 20mg sodium difference.
Ingredients
The main ingredients for carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup and citric acid are the same in Sprite and 7Up. Any noticeable difference in flavor is mainly due to the natural flavors not being revealed.

We have increased prices for Sprite and 7Up in various stores for 2 liter and 12 ounce/12 ounce products. As the table below shows, prices vary from store to store. If you’re a regular Sprite or 7Up drinker, it might be wise to buy the best price and stock up if you have cash on hand when you find your cheap brand. Some stores offer discounts (offers) if you buy multiple Sprite or 7Up products. Based on our data, 2-liter 7Ups were generally cheaper, while 12oz/12 sprite packs were cheaper.
Ownership
Sprite: Sprite is owned by The Coca-Cola Company. Although Coca-Cola is an American company, Sprite’s roots actually come from Europe. Sprite was released in Germany in 1959 and marketed as Clear Lemon Fanta. Note that Fanta was invented by an employee of a German Coca-Cola bottling company during World War II when Coca-Cola could not be produced due to the war. Sprite was not introduced to the United States until 1961, where it quickly became a popular soda. Sprite remains one of Coca-Cola’s top brands today.

7Up: 7Up is much older than Sprite. It was launched in 1929 by its creator, Charles Leiper Grigg. It was originally called Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda. The soda contained the mood-stabilizing lithium citrate until about 1948, when regulations required its removal. However, the lithium ingredient was a marketing aspect of the soda before its removal and was, at least in part, one of the reasons for its initial success. It wasn’t until 1939 that the name was shortened to 7Up. No one is quite sure what “7Up” means, as the inventor has never publicly revealed his reasoning for the name. The 7Up brand is currently owned by Keurig Dr Pepper. Pepsi bottles this soda outside of the United States.
