We can qualify as renewable resources all those that could never be exhausted. This is possible because they can be regenerated naturally. This is because, in theory, these resources can be renewed at a regeneration rate that is greater than the rate at which they are consumed.
There are some resources that are considered renewable, such as fresh water. For this to really be the case, it must be carefully used so as not to exceed its -regenerative capacity- and for this an estimate is made or we could eventually run out of water.
Among the renewable resources we can find solar radiation, wind, wood, among others. We can also find the concept of renewable energy, which implements some renewable resource for its generation, such as solar energy, wind energy, hydroelectric energy, among others.
All those resources that cannot be renewed can be classified as non-renewable resources. Consequently, many of these resources will be depleted and become extinct. In general, many of these resources are cataloged in this way, since they would take millions of years to form again.
Similarly, among non-renewable resources we can find fossil and nuclear fuels. These are extracted directly from the earth. Among them we have oil, natural gas and also coal.
Likewise, we have the uranium that is extracted from the mines. This element is used as fuel to generate nuclear energy, as well as plutonium, due to the radioactive characteristics of both, generating reactions that release energy and are called nuclear fuels.
Of these two types of fuels, nuclear fuels are the cleanest for generating energy, although less clean than energy that comes from renewable resources. It should be noted that more than 95% of the energy we use today comes from non-renewable resources.
