  1. Hubs are classified as Layer 1 devices based on the OSI model, while the router layer is the network layer (Layer 3 devices).
  2. The hub contains 4/12 ports while the router has 2, 4 or 8 ports.
  3. Hub is a passive device without software while router is a network device.
  4. The form of data transmission in the hub is in electrical signal or bits, while in the router it is in the form of a packet.
