Gametes are the sex cells that are of two types of male sex cells known as sperm and female sex cells known as ovules. Sperm are found in the male sex organs in semen and eggs are found in the ovary of the female organ. Genotype is a different term from gamete. In reality, it is a structure, composition or genetic structure of a specific organism. Gametes are used to form a new individual. When a male gamete unites with a female gamete during the sexual process, a zygote is formed which then develops into an individual. Genotype determines your characteristics or traits. Genotype talks about hair color, eye color, eye shape, nose, and even your entire personality. These characteristics travel from parents to offspring through genes. Genes are the part of DNA that is present on chromosomes.

Genotype is a set of genes in DNA that is responsible for a specific trait. Two individuals who have even a small difference in their genes are known to have different genotypes. In fact, a genotype is the genetic makeup of a cell. It is basically the complete hereditary genetic identity of an individual. It is unique to each one, even if they are twins. Genes are hidden traits or characteristics of an individual. Wilhelm Johannsen first discovered the term genotype in 1909 while working in Denmark. This difference is between the hereditary dispositions of individuals (genotype) and how these dispositions are manifested in the physical traits of individuals (phenotype). There are three types of genotypes; homozygous dominant, heterozygous and homozygous recessive. Chromosomes are expressed in a pair of letters called alleles. Allele pairs are a dominant trait, a codominant trait, and a recessive trait. One genotype sequence is different from the other genotype sequence. Genotypes are indicated by letters such as Aa in which A represents one allele while a represents the other allele. Therefore, the genotype is a complete inherited genetic identity and refers to the single genome.
