Difference between DVD-R and DVD+R

Both DVD-R and DVD+R refer to two digital optical disc storage formats. These don’t represent a format, so don’t confuse them to be used interchangeably with each other. The main difference between DVD-R and DVR+R is that DVD-R is a kind of DVD which is non-recordable format, it can be compatible with about 93% of DVD players and most of DVD-ROM , while DVD + R is supported? with about 89% of DVD players and most DVD-ROMs.

What is DVD-R?

It is compatible with more than 93% of DVD players and most DVD- ROM and is approved by the DVD Forum. . DVD-R discs are made up of two 0.6mm acrylic discs, bonded together with an adhesive. Once the acrylic disc has a laser guide groove and is coated with the recording dye and silver alloy or gold reflector.

DVD-R refers to a non-rewritable digital optical disc storage format. Non-rewritable means it can be written once and read arbitrarily many times. It has the capacity of 4.7 GB. It is used for video, audio, or non-volatile data storage applications. Its format is similar to the DVD-R format, however it is not supported. Like DVD-Rs, it carries up to 8.5GB of data. DVD+R has a more robust error handling system than DVD-R which allows for more accurate recording to media. DVD+R is compatible with approximately 89% of DVD players and most DVD-ROMs. That means about 11% of standalone DVD video players and DVD ROM drives are not fully compatible with the DVD+R format.
